Optiver is the largest independent trading firm in the Asia Pacific region, with a product range that spans five continents and 20 countries. In the next five years, we are aiming for a trading presence on every listed exchange in the world.

Optiver employs over 500 people worldwide with around 170 employees in Sydney. Since the close of the world’s trading floors, IT has become the right hand of our organisation, developing sophisticated in-house trading models and applications that take advantage of arbitrage opportunities.

Due to our rapid growth a newly created role has become available within the IT Operations department. You will also be offered the opportunity to grow your own role and the team.

As Systems and Applications Monitoring Engineer, your responsibilities will involve:

•Performance, capacity and availability monitoring of core trading services
•Implementing and maintaining state of the art application layer monitoring systems in a complex trading environment
•Assisting other teams to improve their environments in regards to performance

Essential Criteria:

•Motivated self starter with a passion for IT excellence
•A background in Unix system administration (3 plus years)
•Advanced scripting skills in shell, perl or VBScript (2 plus years)
•Demonstrated understanding of network topologies and protocols
•Demonstrated understanding of and experience working with ITIL processes
•Project control and time management skills

Nice to have:

•Experience with HP Operations Manager
•Experience supporting and maintaining Windows systems and applications
•Experience implementing Openview products in an Enterprise Environment
•ITIL foundations certification
•Reporting skills
